On behalf of Missphashunta.com this past Monday (June 3, 2019) I had the pleasure of attending the premiere for Fuse’s brand-new, late night animated series, Sugar and Toys. Sugar and Toys is created with the intent to shock, question and laugh. The show features a cast that does a great job of capturing your attentionwith an amazing on screen persona starring rapper/actor KYLE. By using an 80’s and 90’s visual aesthetic the producers were able to re-create the nostalgic feelings of Saturday morning cartoons. However, the shockingly witty cartoon uses adult comedy to address issues and trends most relevant to Latino and multicultural millennial audience. While pushing boundaries, the show gives a voice to the unheard and creatively incorporates social commentary and hip-hop parody that invokes conversation and awareness.
“The inspiration for Sugar and Toys came from the idea of only having a childhood due to toxic
toys and eating sugar. “- Carl Jones
During an exclusive red-carpet interview, creators Carl Jones and Brian Ash (Black Dynamite and
The Boondocks,) stated, “There are certain things you will see that should make you upset and
other things that will inspire you.”
Watch for more exclusive interviews with Carl Jones, Brain Ash and KYLE. And be sure to tune-in
tonight at 11 pm et/pt to watch the first episode of Sugar and Toys on Fuse TV.
