Get ready OWN network viewers, there’s a new show being added to the weekly lineup! OWN’s newest docuseries, Checked Inn, will focus on former editor-in-chief of Essence Magazine, Monique Greenwood, and how she runs one of the hottest bed-and-breakfast businesses on the East Coast.
After spending over two decades in journalism, Monique Greenwood decided to pursue her lifelong dream of being in the hospitality business and owning her own B&B. Fast forward 22 years later, Monique is now the CEO of the very successful Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast Inn. Spread throughout the East Coast, Akwaaba has four luxurious B&B inns in Brookyln, N.Y., Washington, D.C., Cape May, N.J., and Bethany, P.A. Whether you want to get away to the Cape May location for the summer or the Poconos location for the winter, Monique insures each location is satisfactory to all guests.
Of those four successful locations, Pennsylvania’s Poconos location is the most popular. Checked Inn will focus on this specific location and illustrate the perks of staying at Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast Inn. From wedding celebrations to simple romantic getaways, Monique and her team are dedicated to making sure the guests have an unforgettable experience. The show will feature the everyday duties of the hands-on team members, including Monique’s daughter Glynn and the inn’s main attraction, chef Shawn Osbey. Chef Shawn is an Atlanta based chef who spends six months out of the year at the Awkaaba Inn running their kitchen during the busiest season.
Missphashunta.com host Whitney Logan attended the ATL press luncheon for the brand new series and let's just say it was spectacular!
