TV One is remarkably known as the preeminent network aimed towards African-Americans that delivers astounding films, music, news and classic hit series created to entertain and enlighten the black culture. The renowned platform has established itself to be a versatile and innovating foundation of entertainment and news again with its new film titled, Dinner For Two. TV One hosted a media teleconference in which Missphashunta.com was able to partake in that was moderated by Tosha Whitten-Griggs (TV One SVP, Public Relations) which also included various speakers/presenters such as Tristan "Mack" Wilds (Artist, Actor and Executive Producer), Chaley Rose, (Actress), Orlando Bishop (Writer and Director), Eric Tomosunas (Swirl Films), Jubba Seyyid (Sr. Director, Programming and Production of TV One) and Robyn Greene Arrington (Vice President of Original Programming & Production).
During the inspiring two-hour media teleconference, Bishop explained to listeners where his inspiration of developing the film came from. Bishop states, “The African American community never speaks on mental illnesses that some may encounter. However, the culture is taught to be strong and to mask the pain. This film demonstrates a man who is suffering from drinking due to the pain he now feels from losing his soul mate. On so many occasions we get to witness a woman’s pain when she’s heart broken and what she does to cope with it. However, we never explore the man’s mind to see what it is he truly feels and thinks.”
Dinner For Two, demonstrates a complicated love story about life and sacrifice. The interesting film stars R&B heartthrob and actor Tristan ‘Mack’ Wilds as Chris Moore, a man trying to face reality with true love lost, playing opposite is rising actress Chaley Rose as his beloved Angela. When his soul mate, Angela, leaves him, his life becomes catastrophic leading Chris into heavy drinking while facing a major decision about his future, as he can’t seem to let go of the relationship.
Many outlets who participated in the entertaining and informative media teleconference such as Missphashunta.com, received the chance to gain insight from the presenters and speakers while engaging in a highly captivating Q&A session.
Below is a question MissPhaShunta.com writer, Brittany Chisem was able to ask Tristian “Mack” Wilds.
Q: Being that you are an artist with a persona and an actor portraying different characters, how do you find a balance between your reality and spirituality?
Tristian “Mack” Wilds: Wow! Being in this industry, you must have faith to keep a positive mindset and outlook on life. I believe in the power of prayer. I’m not sure about everyone else but I believe in God and my family taught me the importance of prayer.
So, for me I find and give myself time to pray and meditate so that I can continue to grow in my spirituality. Without the foundation of my spirituality, it’d be difficult to find peace in my reality.
Dinner For Two premieres on TV One, Sunday, September 2 at 7p.m. ET/6C, encore at 9 p.m. ET/8C. Please be sure to tune into the new film that will allow viewers to understand the untold side of how men cope with pain after heartbreak. You don't want to miss it!
